During these cold dark days of winter, especially this one, people long for the summer time. But one man is trying to make our short summers a bit brighter.
John Connors is a retired educator who’s written a position paper calling on government to move the clocks ahead a half hour. His love for summer activities spurred his paper which has been sent off the Premier and other party leaders.
Newfoundland summers are short and start late, Connors says an extra half hour of daylight at the end of the day makes a difference.
He says few people realize that in mid August the days are back to the same length that they are in late April. So moving some of that early morning daylight to the evening would make the best summer days more enjoyable and provide more recreational time for people.
