Newfoundland businessman Paul Antle will not be seeking the provincial Liberal leadership.
Antle issued a news release this morning indicating that, despite the fact that he has been urged to run by people from across the province, he’s decided not to throw his hat in the ring.
Antle, who is behind Marbase, the project to convert the old Marystown shipyard property into a service hub for the aquaculture industry, says it comes down to the commitment he made to the people of Marystown.
He says Marbase will provide badly needed employment and support to fish farmers and other economic activity to the region – and he can’t walk away from that commitment.
Yesterday Antle came out swinging, indicating that the provincial Liberal Party should have set caps on corporate donations to leadership candidates.
Re: Liberal Leadership. There should have been a cap in 2013. No excuse in 2020 especially given the Premiership is at stake. Not too late! If the party doesn't step up the candidates can.@nlliberals @PremierofNL @MikeConnors @Fred_Hutton @PeterCBC @StJohnsTelegram @JohnAllanLib
