A fundraiser is set for this weekend as part of an effort to establish a local Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame.
Greg Dodd, one of the pioneers of rock n’ roll in the province, is part of a group of musicians behind preserving an important part of the province’s cultural history.
Dodd says their biggest fear is that as the original performers die off, the history will be forgotten and the memorabilia lost.
He says they’ve held a number of tribute jams that have proven successful in raising funds for local charities, and thought it would be a good idea to hold a similar jam for a Hall of Fame.
He believes that the genre is often overlooked, even though performers gave a lot to local music culture.
The Rock n’ Roll Tribute Jam takes place this Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Bella Vista.
