The Northeast Eagles have won the 2020 Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup, and $100,000 for Rainbow Riders.
The group was surprised with the news at the Rainbow Riders Therapeutic Riding facility in St. John’s earlier today.

(Looks of surprise cross the faces of some team members, as they realize why they had been brought to Rainbow Riders.)
Two other teams made it to the finals of the Good Deeds Cup: The SW Kings of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and the Regina Rebels of Saskatchewan.
The Eagles were chosen as the winners by panel of judges.
Nathan Chaulk is a member of the Rainbow Riders program and his brother, Sam, is on the Eagles hockey team.
He says having that personal connection to the team made seeing them win that much more special.
Chaulk says the donation means a lot to him. He calls Rainbow Riders his “home away from home,” and says that riding allows the horse to become his legs and give him freedom.
For Kelly Sandoval, Executive Director of Rainbow Riders, getting the news was a very exciting moment.
She was excited for the kids, but is also excited about what the win means for the programs they offer. She says it will help them expand and reach even more people.
