For the first time ever Churchill Park in St. John’s will play host to a music festival later this year, but the dates are up in the air.
Mighty Quinton Concerts is planning to host the Churchill Park Music Festival at the end of the summer, it will span across two weekends for four nights of music in total.
The final two weekends in August and the first weekend of September have been approved by the city and put on hold as possible dates.
Though the festival will only be two weekends of shows, the third weekend was requested until dates for the acts can be nailed down.
Councilor Jamie Korab says even though there has never been an event like this in the park before, he is supportive of it.
Korab says in a perfect world they would have a concert there once and then review before approving multiple dates. However, he notes the promoter and Ward Councilor Ian Froude have engaged with residents to address their concerns, and given the promoter’s track record for events in the city he is comfortable with supporting it.
