The House of Assembly took an unexpected turn this afternoon as Independent MHA Eddie Joyce tabled what he calls new information acquired through Access to Information.
The issue goes back two years when the House was rocked by allegations of bullying and harassment aimed at Joyce and then-MHA Dale Kirby. Both were cabinet ministers at the time.
Joyce says he was not given the opportunity to avail of due process as the Commissioner of Legislative Standards, Bruce Chaulk, did not interview him regarding the allegations. He says his rights were violated and that Chaulk then misled the House by not telling the Management Commission that he wasn’t interviewed because he was not given the opportunity.
Joyce says the commissioner made a false statement as to why he was not interviewed, and that this situation cannot be condoned.
