There could be more traffic on Quidi Vidi Lake this summer if all goes as planned for City Counselor, Hope Jamieson.
There was a notice for motion at last night’s city council meeting that says an amendment is being put forward next week to allow kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding on the lake.
Jamieson says the Regatta Committee is on board.

The change to the St. John’s Park by-law would allow the activities on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. – times that will not affect Regatta practice.
She says the city has made large changes to the Quidi Vidi infrastructure, she would like to see the residents benefit from that in the best way possible.
As for safety, Jameson says the activities would be done at people’s own discretion.
