The provincial government says sick notes are no long required by regional health authorities for respiratory illness.
The announcement comes in the wake of a recent call by NAPE to eliminate the requirement as a public health risk.
The Department of Health says regional health authorities are working on containment measures for COVID-19, and acknowledges that asking employees to get a sick note increases the potential spread of infection.
The decision is effective immediately and will be reassessed periodically.
