Talks between the St. John’s Transportation Commission and Metrobus workers have broken off.
Paul Churchill, the president and business agent of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1462, says the union is very disappointed with the news.
Both parties went under conciliation to attempt to resolve their outstanding issues and reach an agreement. However, Churchill says they’ve come to an impasse.
The union has called two emergency meetings with all members for Wednesday to review details of the process this far, and discuss the next steps forward.
Churchill says transit workers are looking to be treated fairly, and at the same level as other city employees.
The first meeting is at 10:30 a.m. and the second at 7:30 p.m. at the Garden Inn Hotel.
