Growlers COO Glenn Stanford says after a discussion with the board of governors, all teams were instructed to get their teams home.
Stanford, who has been involved with the local sports community for decades, says he has never seen anything like this and not many people have. He says they are concerned, like everybody else in the world, but having to postpone games is minor compared to other global issues.
Stanford states that safety is the most important thing right now.
The Newfoundland Growlers will provide more updates for future games as information becomes available.
National Leagues put seasons on pause

No basketball, no NHL, no baseball. The NBA suspended its season last night and the NHL has just followed suit.
Major League Baseball has suspended its spring training games, and delayed the start of its 2020 season by at least two weeks.
The NHL is only a few weeks away from the playoffs, whereas that would be the time baseball would begun the season.
