Finance Minister Tom Osborne says despite what he calls “conspiracy theories,” a budget will be brought down before an election is held in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Osborne was responding to the Opposition who forced government to “back down” on introducing a six month Interim Supply Bill.
Instead, the bill, which ensures that government services continue until the budget is passed, has been passed for a three month period.
Opposition Finance critic Tony Wakeham says the Liberal government was wrong to ask the House of Assembly to grant them six months of funding without any information or accountability.
Osborne told the House yesterday there’s no “hidden agenda.”
