The Newfoundland and Labrador Dental Board is directing all dental clinics in the province to suspend regular dental services due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A plan for managing emergency care services will be put in place at each clinic.
Starting on March 17 for a period of 14 days, dental clinics will manage emergency care such as infections, acute pain, bleeding or trauma. Patients will need to contact their dentists via telephone to have emergencies evaluated on a case by case basis.
Eastern Health is working on a plan for serious dental emergency care with the dental division of the Janeway Hospital in the coming days.
