“We really are in uncharted territory and we feel, again, that campaigning in this environment would not be appropriate at any level.”
That’s from John Abbott, one of the candidates for the provincial Liberal Leadership.
Last night, he issued a call for the leadership race to be temporarily suspended as the country copes with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking on the VOCM Morning Show, Abbott indicates he has been in communication with the other candidate in the race, Dr. Andrew Furey, and the Liberal party. Both groups, according to Abbott, are taking his request under advisement. VOCM News has reached out for comment.
Abbott says people’s minds are not on the leadership race and right now we need to focus on what’s most important, which is supporting government and the all party committee, and making sure we are making the best decisions for the province.
