The House of Assembly will not resume as planned on Monday, but it will meet on Thursday for a special session to deal with “business of urgent public importance” in what government is calling “this unprecedented situation”.
Things will be very different when the House sits.
Government and the opposition parties will decided collaboratively who will sit in the House, keeping a minimum quorum to exercise the Legislature’s powers.
Seating will be rearranged to ensure social distancing, and House officials will be kept to a minimum.
There will be no Question Period or other routine business, moving immediately to Notices of Motion and Orders of the Day.
The sitting will be broadcast via the House of Assembly website and the television broadcast channel.
The public and speaker’s galleries will be closed, and the Press Gallery will be open as it already allows social distancing.
Further updates will be provided as necessary.
