A 54-year-old Shearstown man is dead following a single-vehicle crash on the Trans Canada yesterday afternoon.
Whitbourne RCMP were called to the area just west of Whitbourne around 1:00 p.m.
The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was trapped after the vehicle crossed over the centre line and ended up in the ditch on the opposite side of the road.
The man was removed from the vehicle, but was pronounced dead at the clinic in Whitbourne.
It was the second fatal accident on the province’s highways in as many days. On Wednesday, an 18-year-old St. John’s man died in a head-on collision on the TCH near Goobies.
