Canada now has over 800 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 10 reported deaths as a result of the novel coronavirus.
That was the update yesterday from national Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Teresa Tam.
Most troubling is the continued increase in numbers, including ten new confirmed cases at CFB-Trenton.
Tam says the day-by-day sharp increase in cases is of great concern, as are reports from the provinces of confirmed cases not related to travel.
Health authorities across the country are continuing to emphasize the importance of social distancing, and hand-washing.
She says no community is safe from COVID-19, and warns that First Nations, Inuit, and Metis communities are more likely to suffer “grave consequences” as a result of the virus because of the higher rate of underlying illness, inadequate health care resources, sanitary deficiencies and relative isolation.
The worldwide death toll due to coronavirus eclipses 10,000.
