The Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador have since postponed their leadership race amid public backlash.
Ball says his priority is not about the future of the Liberal Party, it’s about the future of Newfoundland and Labrador and its residents.
He says the Party will make what ever decision it wants. But, he will continue to lead the province through the process, as long as he is Premier.)
Ball says it’s time for his caucus, and all forty-members of the House of Assembly to to unify. He adds that it takes experiences to get through the COVID-19 crisis and they need to represent the people who put them in the chairs they sit in.
He says they are seeing great unity in their all-party committee on fighting COVID-19. Ball claims it takes experience to do the job, and not often do you see a card on the back of a fire truck that says “novice driver’.
Premier says Measures in Place to Help Economy Rebound, Public Health Biggest Priority
The Premier says without question COVID-19 is having a significant and severe impact on the province’s economy.
Dwight Ball says first and foremost, their priority is protecting the health of Newfoundlanders and Larbadorians.
He says the economic issues the province is facing right now has certainly changed where they were in February, March or even the last week.
The Premier says they’re seeing revenues decreasing and expenses increasing.
Government is expecting that the measures they’re taking now will help the province rebound, perhaps faster than other jurisdictions.
