The City of St. John’s says effective immediately, it will not be charging interest on commercial and residential property taxes or water metre taxes up to an including August 31st of this year.
Mayor Danny Breen says the city recognizes the pressure residents and businesses are feeling at this time.
The St. John’s Board of Trade asked that taxes be deferred given the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19.
The city says bills will still be issued and sent, but taxpayers will not be charged interest on late payments.
