An eye-opening situation unfolded on the Trans-Canada Highway early Wednesday evening as a DRL coach bus left the road near Butter Pot Park.
Reports indicate the shuttle was traveling on the highway when it left the road, crashing into the median. Roads on the Avalon were partly snow-covered and slushy at the time.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, shutting down the eastbound lanes and rerouting traffic, as tow crews set out to remove the bus.
Earlier today, DRL announced that it was halting its cross-island bus services as of day’s end, until further notice.
That follows a number of measures and recommendations set by the provincial government to slow the spread of COVID-19.
