There’s a “weather-maker” in the offing which may have an impact on travel.
High winds are going to hit a large chunk of the island, prompting Marine Atlantic to issue a travel advisory. They expect some interruptions not only tonight and tomorrow but possibly into Saturday .
The Avalon will get up to 25 mm of rain tomorrow with high winds but on the south coast, the dumping could be in the 40-50 mm range. Given the amount of snow still on the ground, that could result in flooding.
Mike Vandenburg of the Gander Weather Office says the temperatures will be well on the plus side.
That means there will be a lot of melt, so it’s a good idea to clear away storm drains.
