The 2020 Newfoundland and Labrador Summer games have been postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
They were scheduled to be held in Bay Roberts August 15-22.
Premier Dwight Ball says because all sporting facilities are closed, the athletes cannot train and teams cannot be selected.
Ball notes this was a mutual decision between the province and the town, and falls in line with the postponement of other major sporting events, such as the 2020 summer Olympics in Japan.
He emphasizes the games are postponed and not canceled, and they will be working to figure out new dates for the games.
