Canada Post on Kenmount Road is back up and running this morning after shutting down a week ago when an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
Canada Post says the Newfoundland and Labrador Public Health Authority has advised them that all tracing activity is now complete and anybody impacted will remain in quarantine. Further, the entire building and all vehicles have been sanitized.
The company adds that they have put additional physical-distancing measures in place throughout the facility.
Canada Post says while mail and parcel delivery will resume, delays are expected to ensure the safety of their employees.
They are also asking their customers to give Canada Post employees space when they are doing their job, whether at a door, community mailbox or post office.
“During delivery: Please avoid opening the door or greeting them personally when they are at the door to deliver, or give them 2 metres (6 feet) when they are working, including putting mail into community mailboxes.
In post offices: When in a retail post office, please practice social distancing and respect the other measures that have been implemented.”
Canada Post says they are working with the provincial and federal government to prioritize socio-economic cheques and will do their best to ensure they are delivered as quickly as possible.
