The Town of Conception Bay South is urging young people to stay home unless absolutely necessary.
This after reports emerged of teens parking cars next to each other in public areas like town parks.
Mayor Terry French is concerned, as the action does not abide by social distancing measures, and is a risk to public health.
He says the town felt it important to put out a reminder, as they’ve noticed people parking closely together and not ensuring social distancing. French iterated if you want to be out, and meet with someone in your car, ensure you stay the six feet—or two metres—apart.
French states that in order to flatten the curve, statistics should that social distancing works. He implores residents to listen to the advice of the Chief Medical Officer, and practice social distancing.
French asks parents to educate their kids on the risks and measures that are in place.
Municipal enforcement is regularly patrolling parks and other areas to ensure social distancing protocols are being followed.
