A man accused of eluding police on two occasions this week is now in the arms of the justice system.
It all started on Sunday when RCMP were notified of a stolen Land Rover from a residence in Grand Falls-Windsor. Their investigation led them to 32-year-old Adam Warford, but when they tried to stop the Land Rover on the TCH in Grand Falls-Windsor early Sunday evening, the vehicle sped up. Police abandoned the chase because of concerns for public safety. Lewisporte RCMP then jumped in and tried to stop the Land Rover on the TCH near Nyles Brook but, again, it sped off and police abandoned the pursuit.
A passerby later saw the vehicle in the ditch near Norris Arm North and told police that the driver ran off on foot and a passenger caught a ride in a passing vehicle.
Police, with K-9, caught up with Warford who was walking along the road and found the passenger at a business in Lewisporte.
Warford was released on a number of conditions while the passenger is expected to be charged.
