If you’re planning on cooking or baking for others over the Easter weekend, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald is offering some advice.
She says anytime people are preparing food they have to make sure it’s done properly.
That means ensuring your hands are well washed, and countertops and utensils are properly cleaned, as there is more than just COVID-19 to worry about—like salmonella.
Dr. Fitzgerald says the information they have right now does not indicate there is a risk of COVID-19 being transmitted through food or food packaging through any great degree.
But, Dr. Fitzgerald says people have to make sure materials used to transport food are not contaminated.
She adds that if you are bringing food to a loved one’s home, make sure you’re practicing social distancing and not to burst anyone’s bubble.
