As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, Newfoundlanders and Labradorians continue to create displays of appreciation for their community’s essential workers.
Last night, Confederation Hill was bathed in yellow light as the provincial government recognized its essential workers.
Premier Dwight Ball offered his thanks for the dedication and resiliency of workers in their continued support of the safety and comfort of others during this exceptional time.
He encourages everyone to continue practicing physical distancing measures, to ensure the protection of essential workers and each other, so the province may emerge from the pandemic sooner. Ball says Newfoundland and Labrador has weathered many difficult events, and is confident it will emerge from the pandemic “as strong as ever.”
Meanwhile, the new Sunday tradition of making noise to thank essential workers continues.
At 7 p.m. (NT), people across the province headed outside their doors to make noise as a show of support.
The cheer began Sunday, March 29, when even the boats in St. John’s harbour sounded off.
