Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam says there are 24,804 cases and 734 deaths in the country. More than 428,000 people have been tested with over 5.7 per cent testing positive.
Dr. Howard Njoo Canada’s Deputy Chief Public Health officer says Canada continues to improve testing, people and businesses are changing their behaviours to try and flatten the curve.
Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau has announced that the federal government will be providing $50-million to help farmers, food and seafood processors.
Bibeau says the workers in the food supply chain are essential to ensuring Canadians have good food at a reasonable prize. She says that residents count on them to fill the shelves.
Bibeau explains that businesses will receive $1,500 per worker to allow them to quarantine for 14 days. She warns that sanctions and fines will apply to those who do not follow the guidelines.
