A Facebook group where Newfoundlanders and Labradorians share photos of icebergs was shut down for a short period due to concerns that people were flocking to the iceberg sites and ignoring social-distancing measures.
Diane Davis is the administrator of Newfoundland Iceberg Reports. She archived the group on April 8 after someone posted a picture and location of an iceberg and two hours later cars began showing up the small community.
The page was restored last night, but Davis has asked those in the group to post pictures taken before April 10 or photos that are at least five days old, so as to not encourage people to leave their homes.
The group has nearly 20,000 members. Davis says she does not want to stop people from documenting the icebergs, but instead asks people to save their photos to share at a later date.
