The province has suspended the repayment of provincial student loans but there is a scam circulating making people think otherwise.
In early April, Dwight Ball made the announcement that no payment would be required and interest will not accrue until September 30.
Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, Christopher Mitchelmore warns people with student loans that there is a scam making its rounds asking people to repay anyway.
He says the Canada Student Loan Service Centre and the National Student Loan Centre are not contacting students regarding relief measures—this is a scam.
Mitchelmore tells people to hang up on these people and if anyone has an inquiry, they should email studentaidenquiry@gov.nl.ca.
