The Minister of Health says there is a tiered response should long-term care homes face staffing shortages.
John Haggie says all but one long-term care facility is managed by the regional health authorities, and none of those have reported the need for additional staff.
Should the situation change, he says the facilities have access to casual and float staff.
And should a surge of COVID-19 cases require even more staff, the province has approval from health license regulators that would help meet demand.
He says they can rapidly recruit recently retired health care providers, even over the phone.
