“Save it for later.”
That is what Ever Green Recycling locations are asking the public to do meaning people should hold onto the recyclables for which they have paid a deposit for.
President Mike Wadden says although several municipalities are helping residents handle their non-deposit recyclables, there are benefits to saving deposit beverage containers.
He says saving deposit containers is like turning your shed or storage area into a piggy bank.
After the pandemic is over, Wadden says the financial return can go directly into the collector’s pocket or be donated to schools, community groups or charities.
He also says that by saving containers, people will reduce the amount of material that enters landfills.
