The federal government is rolling out a program to ramp up testing and research to fight COVID-19.
PM Trudeau has announced a $1.1-billion three-pronged medical strategy to research vaccines and treatments, and to support clinical trials.
Ottawa has formed a COVID-19 task force, comprised of top health experts and scientists from across the country including chief medical officer, Dr. Theresa Tam.
Canada is now testing 20,000 people a day, about double the number of tests a month ago, however the PM says we have to do more as testing is key.
Trudeau also declared that Canadians have every right to feel frustrated from what has been happening in long-term care homes. Hundreds of older residents have died, and Ontario and Quebec are using Armed Forces personnel to help out. Trudeau says the military should not be caring for residents of long-term care homes and that we must do better.
