More reason for optimism from the province’s daily COVID-19 update.
For the sixth day in a row, the province has no new confirmed cases of the virus, with 205 of the 256 confirmed cases now recovered.
Five people are in hospital, two of whom are in ICU. 6,902 people have been tested.
Health Minister John Haggie congratulated the people of Newfoundland and Labrador for helping to “effectively flatten the curve.”
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says there is real reason for optimism, but health measures remain in place.
She says the focus is on preventing a sporadic case from becoming a cluster and a cluster becoming an outbreak.
Dr. Fitzgerald issued two new public health directives today.
All travelers entering the province must fill out a declaration form and submit a 14-day self-isolation plan.
#NEW: effective April 24th at noon, anyone entering the province will have to fill a declaration form at their point of entry.
