Trades NL will be meeting with the company building the West White Rose Extension structure in Argentia to get more detail on the shutdown.
A few weeks ago Husky temporarily stopped the project, but this week decided to mothball it for at least the rest of the year.
Some 1600 skilled tradespeople are out of work, but they are working on a long-term plan that will see eventually see full resumption of the project.
The interruption in the build has delayed first oil at West White Rose Extension by about a year.
