26 speeders were given tickets after a joint speed enforcement initiative by RCMP and RNC Traffic Services last week.
On Wednesday, four drivers were traveling at excessive speeds ranging from 152 to 170km/hr near Paddy’s Pond on the Trans-Canada Highway.
Each was issued tickets with a hefty fine, licence suspensions, and had their vehicles impounded.
The RCMP says that last year, speed was a factor in 33 per cent of fatal collisions in RCMP-policed areas of Newfoundland and Labrador.
