The MP for Labrador is upset with the mining industry for ramping up activity at its Bloom Lake operation.
Mines in Labrador have shut down their rebuild projects, leaving Yvonne Jones at a loss to understand why Champion Iron is scaling up the project, which is located in Quebec in the Labrador Trough.
Jones is asking the company to transport workers through Quebec and not use the airport at Wabush in Labrador West.
There are no positive cases in that part of Labrador and the MP says they’re working to keep it that way.
Meanwhile, MHA for Labrador West, Jordan Brown, is also voicing his concerns. Brown has written the president of Bloom Lake asking that they follow the lead of other mining projects in the area.
