Municipalities, including those in metro, are now making plans following the provincial update on COVID restrictions.
St. John’s will soon be announcing details for reopening municipal parks and the residential drop-off at Robin Hood Bay. The city is going to do a phased-in approach because of the expected high demand at the dump.
During the first phase, the landfill will be accepting household garbage only, and not recycling, yard waste, bulk items, household hazardous waste or electronics.
Plans to safely open parks are being finalized but will not include playgrounds, sporting facilities, skate parks, hard-surface courts, and dog parks.
Parks could be open as early as next week.

Conception Bay South is going to reopen Topsail Beach Rotary Park and Worsley Park on Monday, May 11. That will allow residents to access the parks for walking or running.
Public playgrounds, sports fields, and the Sgt. Ned Nugent’s dog park will remain closed due to social distancing concerns. Mayor Terry French says gatherings of people in parks and parking lots are not permitted.
Curbside recycling resumes Tuesday, May 5, and will follow the regular schedule—with a limit of six bags for the month of May.
