The Chief Medical Officer of Health says the province is not conducting mandatory COVID-19 testing on those entering the province.
Testing is being conducted on those entering long-term care and personal-care facilities.
Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says testing everyone who enters the province could put a strain on supplies and personal protective equipment.
People entering the province are currently being asked to self-isolate for 14 days, and if they become symptomatic, they will be tested.
Fitzgerald says those who have been a part of an outbreak, or who has been in contact with someone who is known to have contracted the virus are also being tested.
She says those people are at a higher risk of having COVID-19, even if they’re asymptomatic.
