Health Minister John Haggie has developed a greater public persona during the daily provincial COVID-19 updates, leading some to ask whether he should make a run for the Liberal leadership – but it’s unlikely it’ll be a three-way race.
Haggie has been the subject of recent memes and cartoons, focused on his turn of phrase and no-nonsense approach to public health directives.
They include his entreaty not to let children lick the handle of the shopping cart.

The Liberal leadership process was suspended due to the pandemic, and the party will decide May 11th about whether or not that suspension will be lifted.
There are currently two people in the running for the party’s top job; surgeon Andrew Furey and former bureaucrat, John Abbott.
A party spokesperson tells VOCM News that leadership nominations closed March 6th and there has been no discussion on re-opening nominations.
