The federal government will be providing $240-million to bring health care services online.
The Prime Minister announced the expansion of existing online tools as well as new virtual platforms for mental heath and primary care services on Sunday.
New mental health services will provide resources on ways to manage stress, support from mental health professionals, and tools for people in marginalized communities.
The funding will also be used to bring more virtual care to Canadians who don’t need to see a doctor in person. Trudeau says this will keep people safe at home and give hospitals more resources to treat those who need it most.
Trudeau also announced $175-million to support Canadian company, AbCellera that is conducting COVID-19 research. The company has identified antibodies that could be used in drugs to treat COVID-19.
The Prime Minister spoke directly to families during his address. He says parents should not have to worry about bills during the pandemic. In May, families will now receive an extra $300 dollars per child through the Canada Child Benefit to be used for anything from groceries to tutoring for children.
