The province will begin to ease some of its restrictions on May 11, as the first step to return to some sense of ‘normalcy’ since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
According to St. John’s Mayor Danny Breen, city crews are working to open Bowring and Bannerman Parks before Monday, keeping physical distancing measures in mind for park-goers.
The issue of parks, as well as garbage collection, have been hot topics among residents since restrictions were established in March.
Mayor Breen says he’ll have an update for Robin Hood Bay within the next few days, but expects it to reopen by Monday.
However, they will be doing so with a phased approach.
At first, they will only accept household garbage at the residential drop-off. Once that is addressed, then they will begin expanding drop-off to other materials, such as yard waste.
