The COVID-19 pandemic is just the latest of a series of difficulties faced by Easter Seals over the last year or so—which is why fundraising activities to keep their programs going are more important now than ever.
CEO Mark Bradbury says #Snowmageddon and the pandemic have had a huge impact on the over 20 programs and services they offer to people of all ages who are living with physical and intellectual challenges.
Add to that last year’s flood that knocked their operations back dramatically.
Right now Bradbury says they’re only able to supply career services to their clients as all but two of their 20 programs have been canceled.
Affected programming involves social and physical development, not to mention the mental outlet so many people need.
Easter Seals is relying on its 5th annual Luxury Cabin Lottery—its biggest annual fundraiser—to help them restart their programs in September and build a pavilion and event plaza with sensory gardens behind Easter Seals House.
Bradbury says this year’s top prize is a “beautiful cabin-chalet” with a full panoramic view of Dildo Pond, one of the island’s largest ponds.
Tickets are $30 each, and a virtual tour will soon be available online.
