The organization which represents skilled tradespeople in the province is calling on government to change gears when it comes to allowing people to come into the province to work on public projects.
Darin King, the executive director of Trades NL, issued the call last week but since then has learned that more than just the Core Science Building at Memorial University is bringing in workers.
He points to the long-term care home in central Newfoundland as well.
1/7 @PremierofNL @DwightBallNL Support local workers by reducing possible exposure to Covid-19. If jobs are truly essential & work must be completed, make it transparent – demonstrate to public & industry nature of the work & why we do not have skill set to complete work.

The regulations do not require workers arriving in the province to self-isolate for 14 days. They have to isolate but are permitted to go to and from work.
King says workers are coming into the province this week to lay flooring at the new science building, something he says should not be happening; King says the process has to be more transparent.
King is being inundated with calls from workers at these sites who say that means increased risk to them.
