St. John’s City Council has some big decisions to make this afternoon regarding the transportation network.
Possibilities include converting spaces now reserved for vehicles to travel and park to “active” areas, generally meaning for pedestrian usage or to accomplish social distancing expectations.
Several projects are being considered, which would impact thousands of people. Some of the areas being looked at are sections of LeMarchant Road, Portugal Cove Road, Elizabeth Avenue East, Parade Street and Harbour Drive.
Another possible option is the elimination of some on-street parking spots.
