The big tent will not be pitched at Quidi Vidi Lake this year, and it’s curtains for the largest outdoor event of the year.
The Iceberg Alley concert series has been cancelled for this September.
Some of the acts announced for the event included the Barenaked Ladies, Johnny Reid, and a reunion of the original Irish Descendants.
Really sad to hear this – @icebergalleyNL is the best organized event in NL, in the nicest venue. Good luck to John Steele and his team moving forward. https://t.co/794KNYMjgp

John Steele, the promoter, says it’s a foregone conclusion that large live events won’t be happening this year. Even though the concert is still four months out, things are “too uncertain to move forward.”
They don’t know what kinds of regulations will be in place, and everything is just too much of a moving target.
Steele is disappointed but looks forward to putting off the event again in 2021.
He believes the world needs the power of live music now more than ever before, but safety comes first.
The Royal St. John’s Regatta will announce the status of its 2020 event tomorrow. Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald indicated last week that mass gatherings will likely not be happening this summer and into the fall.
