As spring struggles to get established, many are thinking about getting their gardens started, and there’s no better way to boost growing than compost.
A desire to educate and no doubt a bit of boredom, has resulted in a couple of members of Agriculture in the Classroom to come up with a way to encourage others to compost via Twitter.
Chelsea Foley of Agriculture in the Classroom NL, and Maureen Foley, AITC-NL’s Little Green Thumbs Coordinator, donned banana costumes to sing a version of “Take me out to the Ballgame” with a message about composting.
Agriculture in the Classroom is celebrating worms this week and is hosting A Worm for a Day contest for students in grades K-6. Students are being asked to send along drawings of what they think it would be like to be a worm in a compost bin.
