It’s Mother’s Day Weekend, but one unlike any we have ever experienced.
The four regional health authorities have policies in place for moms in long-term care homes which allow loved ones to drop off gifts.
The largest authority, Eastern Health, says gifts may include flowers, cards, clothing and other items but strong-scented flowers or those which may induce allergies, such as Easter Lilies, will not be accepted. Staff will handle delivery to the rooms.
Where available, homes will help facilitate virtual visitation on Mother’s Day.
Hospitals are also allowing gifts, but they will have to be dropped off to the entrance to the hospital.
