Newfoundland and Labrador has lost 29,000 jobs due to COVID-19, resulting in an unemployment rate of 16 per cent, the second highest in the country.
Premier Dwight Ball says government is working with the federal government and reaching out to business leaders to determine a strategic provincial plan to help local businesses.
He says they’re working closely with the business groups because they’re the job creators in this province.
Ball says the help might come in the form of financial aid or regulatory changes.
Ball says through community engagement, they hope to gather the right information to support local businesses through these “unprecedented times.”
