A man from Grand Falls-Windsor is in custody with charges pending after a house in Botwood was set on fire while people were inside.
The incident happened around 8:15 a.m. yesterday. Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP say the fire was intentionally set while the occupants – two adults and two children – were inside. They managed to escape without injury but damage to the home is extensive.
The family was assisted by Canadian Red Cross volunteers with emergency purchases like food and clothing.
The investigation continues.
