A 31-year-old man spent the night in the lock-up after he broke into a residence in downtown St. John’s Saturday night.

At around 11:30 p.m., the RNC responded to a break and enter in progress at a downtown home.

Officers found the man, who had an outstanding warrant, and arrested and charged him with break and enter, assault causing bodily harm and breach of a court order.

He was held to appear in court Sunday.
